Most people enjoy travelling. Some travel for pleasure, some - on business; some travel light, and some take a lot of luggage on their travels, journeys, voyages or trips. They may choose various means of transport and go by train, by plane, by bus (or coach). Every journey has to be arranged beforehand. There is a number of things one must take care of if they want to make their journey comfortable. First of all you should choose the most convenient way of getting at your destination. For example, if you travel by train, decide what train it will be: a through train or you'll have to change trains, then it's more convenient to travel by fast trains. Don't forget to reserve your tickets beforehand. It may be a single or return ticket, a business-class or tourist class ticket. The first is more expensive.
Of course, it's necessary to find out the time of departure, pack your luggage neatly and come to the railway station, coach station or airport well in advance.
If you are going to travel by train you need time for finding the right platform, carriage and compartment. And if you travel by air you should come to the airport 2 or 3 hours before your flight to have enough time to go through the customs and passport control. Besides, you need some time to do some last-minute shopping at duty-free shops and then to board the plane on time.
Your journey can be dull or pleasant. Travel sickness, heavy luggage, talkative fellow passengers, bad weather or delays of trains or flights may spoil the impression of your journey. But there are things that can make your journey easier and more rewarding. For example, a nice book or an interesting magazine help you to while away the time on the journey, or you can look through the window and admire picturesque views. At last a hearty talk with your fellow passengers may be pleasant.
But keep in mind that different means of transport only help you to get at the place of your destination. People travel because it's the best way to get to know and understand the people of different countries, to study geography, customs, traditions of different places, to learn and see a lot of things that we can never see or learn at home. |
